Acne Peel

Acne Peel

Rigor Dermatology & Laser Center offers acne peels to the residents of Pasadena, CA. We also service Los Angeles, CA. Acne peels, or light chemical peels, use a process known as derma-peeling. The skin undergoes a rapid exfoliation that helps keep dead skin cells and oils from accumulating on your skin. Acne peels open up your pores and remove bacteria and toxins from your hair follicles.

How can an acne peel by Dr. Rigor improve my appearance?

Acne is a common problem, especially among teenagers. Dr. Rigor has worked with many young people in Pasadena and Los Angeles, CA who suffer from chronic acne. Acne peels help eliminate the acne, blackheads and whiteheads on your skin. These treatments also work to improve the texture of your skin by removing dead skin cells, giving you smoother skin.

What happens during the acne peel at Rigor Dermatology & Laser Center?

Before your acne peel procedure, Dr. Rigor thoroughly cleans and dries your skin. This helps remove any dirt, oils and toxins on the surface of your skin. He applies an exfoliating agent to your skin, such as glycolic acid, a substance made from sugar cane, or beta hydroxy acid. You may feel a mild warming sensation as the exfoliating agent begins to work. After a period of time, typically 10 minutes, Dr. Rigor uses cool water to rinse your skin.

How long is the healing period after the acne peel by Dr. Rigor?

You may experience mild discomfort that is similar to a sunburn. This should resolve within a few hours, or, in some cases, up to five days. Women who undergo acne peels can use makeup to cover the redness. During the healing period, you may need to apply a special cleanser to your skin. If you are going to be outdoors, you should use a sunscreen for at least two weeks.
